“I work for Crisis UK which is the national charity in the UK for homeless people. They started a coffee project 14 years ago and have opened three training cafes in London, Oxford, and Newcastle. The cafes are social enterprises where their aim is to train people how to work in the hospitality or just generally help them gain transferrable skills and gain confidence so they can start thinking about going into or back to work.
I get to do a bit of everything at the moment which is amazing. Like any businesses/projects, there are so many layers and teams and being able to cut across all of them keeps me on my toes. I still get to train some of our members (people accessing services) which I think is a luxury that some people in the office don’t get to experience all the time. Getting people excited about something that can have a big impact on the world is pretty special. “ - Cameo @camjacjam Project Coordinator @crisis_uk @crisis_coffee
